WoW Forever Gold, Priced Against Every Other Version

Forever opens on November 4, 2026 at $0.65 per gold. Whether that is expensive depends entirely on what you are comparing it with — so here it is, next to every Classic version we price and next to the Token.

Launch pricing

What Onlyfarms will charge from November 4, 2026, next to what the open market is charging for beta gold today. Nothing here is on sale yet, and we are not going to draw you a stock counter for a game that has not shipped.

Rates in US dollars per single gold piece. Market column is the cheapest live listing on Skycoach for the same gameplay style, read on September 18, 2026; they sell beta gold today, so it is the only real price this market has. We re-price on November 18, once there are two weeks of launch trades to read instead of a three-week test realm.

Forever against every version we price

This is the comparison the number needs. We list gold across every live version of the game, so the question “is $0.65 per gold a lot?” has an answer here rather than an opinion.

VersionPer gold1,000 goldCheapest realm we list
WoW Forever from November 4 $0.65 $650.00 no realms — one world per region
Anniversary $0.0102 $10.18 Nightslayer
Retail $0.000061 $0.06 Area 52
MoP Classic $0.000055 $0.05 Atiesh
Retail, via the WoW Token $0.000069 $0.07 Blizzard's own rate, US region

Cheapest realm we currently list in each version, per single gold piece and per thousand. Classic Era is left out: the only rate on offer there is roughly thirty times the market, and printing it would suggest we think it is worth paying. The Token line is Blizzard's own price — $20.00 for 289,774 gold in the US region, read 2026-09-18.

What the gap actually tells you

The Token sets retail's floor, and Forever has no floor. In retail, anybody who wants gold badly enough buys it from Blizzard, so no seller can charge much above that line and the whole market sits near it. Forever has no Token and no boosts, which removes the ceiling on price along with the official supply.

Mature economies are cheap economies. The Classic realms in the table have been accumulating gold for years: the float is enormous, farms are optimised and the same dollar buys far more. Forever opens with nothing in the world on November 4, 2026, and the first weeks are priced accordingly.

The cap never moves, so the currency never deflates. Every other version on this board has been through expansions that made yesterday's fortune into pocket money. Forever stays at 60 indefinitely, which means a thousand gold is worth roughly a thousand gold for as long as the game runs — unusual, and worth knowing before you compare it with anything else here.

What changes for a buyer

There is no realm to match. Each region is one mega-server, so the oldest friction in Classic gold — a seller who plays somewhere else and needs a transfer first — simply does not exist here. Pick the region, the gameplay style and the faction, and the seller is already standing in your world.

The faction still matters, exactly as much as it ever did. Mail and trade stay same-faction only, so a rate only means something when the side matches yours. An order against the wrong faction is one nobody can deliver.

Delivery is the same two ways as everywhere else on this site. In-game mail, which ignores layers entirely, or a face-to-face trade, where a party invite puts you both on the same layer. What a seller needs is a character name and a faction — never a password and never an authenticator code.

Between now and launch

  • Until October 21, 2026 — the beta runs, capped at level 30, and everything on it is wiped at the end. Anyone selling you “Forever gold” this month is selling you three weeks of a test character.
  • November 4, 2026, 3:00 p.m. PST — the servers open with the economy at zero. The rates on this page take effect.
  • November 18 — two weeks of real trading behind us, and we re-price against it. If the market has fallen by then, so does this page.

Blizzard used the September 17 live Q&A to say GDKP will not be allowed in Forever and that it intends to come down harder on gold buyers than it has before. Buying gold has always broken the licence agreement; in this version they have said out loud that they will enforce it.

Questions worth asking

Why is Forever gold so much more expensive than retail gold?

Because it is a different currency wearing the same name. A thousand retail gold costs $0.07 at Blizzard's own Token rate; a thousand Forever gold is $650.00. The number is the same, the thing it buys is not.

In retail an epic mount is an afterthought and gold arrives faster than you can spend it. At the level-60 cap that Forever keeps, a thousand gold is the largest purchase most characters ever make, and nothing in the game prints more of it than players do.

Is Forever gold dearer than Classic gold?

Today, yes, and not by a little: a thousand gold costs $650.00 in Forever against $0.05 on MoP Classic, the cheapest line in the table. That is what a world with no supply looks like.

The gap is temporary in one direction only. Forever prices will fall as farmers spin up; they will not fall to Classic levels, because Classic realms have had years to accumulate gold and Forever starts from nothing on November 4, 2026.

Can I move gold from Classic or retail into Forever?

No. Every version of the game has its own economy and nothing crosses between them — not through the auction house, not through mail, not through a character transfer. Gold you hold on Anniversary or in retail is worth exactly nothing on a Forever character.

That is also why the rates on this page cannot be compared to a realm rate as if they were the same product. They are separate markets that happen to use the same word for money.

Should I buy at launch or wait?

Launch week is the worst exchange rate Forever will ever have: demand is everybody and supply is nobody. Every week after that adds farmers, and the price follows them down.

We re-price on November 18 against two weeks of real trades rather than against a test realm. If you can wait, the arithmetic says wait.

Which version should I buy gold in if I am starting fresh?

That is a question about which game you want to play, not about price. Forever is a new world at level 60 with no Token and no boosts; the Classic versions are mature economies where the same dollar goes much further; retail is a different game entirely, and there Blizzard sells you gold directly through the Token.

What we can tell you is what each one costs, which is the table above, and what sits behind the number on any single realm, which is that realm's own page.
